Chiang Mai, Thailand |26 January 2026 — The 12th AHLA International Health Literacy Conference, jointly organized by the Asian Health Literacy Association (AHLA) and the Thai Health Literacy Promotion Association, will take place from 1–3 November 2026 at the Chiang Mai University Convention Center, Chiang Mai, Thailand. Held under the theme “Health Literacy and Sustainable Development Goals,” the conference will convene international leaders, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and advocates to advance health literacy as a key driver of sustainable development and global health equity.
The Asian Health Literacy Association is an independent, multinational non-governmental organization committed to promoting health literacy research, education, policy, and practice across Asia and beyond. The Thai Health Literacy Promotion Association plays a vital role in advancing health literacy initiatives, capacity building, and community empowerment throughout Thailand. Together, the two organizations bring strong regional and international leadership to this important global forum.
Health literacy—the ability of individuals and communities to access, understand, appraise, and apply health information—is increasingly recognized as a foundational determinant of health outcomes and an essential component of people-centered, resilient health systems.
Building on the strong legacy of AHLA’s international conference series, the 12th conference will emphasize the strategic contribution of health literacy to achieving the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The program will highlight how strengthening health literacy supports universal health coverage, reduces health inequities, promotes well-being across the life course, and contributes to sustainable and inclusive societies.
