The Department of Health and Human Services: request for comments about the proposed update to the definition of health literacy

Dear AHLA Members,

As you may be aware, the Secretary's Advisory Committee on National Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Objectives has proposed a new working definition for health literacy to be used in the Department of Health and Human Services`Healthy People 2030 (HP2030): "Health literacy occurs when a society provides accurate health information and services that people can easily find, understand, and use to inform their decisions and actions." As part of this process, DHHS is inviting comments on this new definitions, which we`d like to support.
If you want to submit comments, please send them to Elena and myself via email not later than 15 July. We will compile everyone's input and send them to Sabrina, who will submit them as a whole on behalf of IHLA.
More information on the request for comments can be seen in the Federal Register at: https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2019/06/04/2019-11571/solicitation-for-written-comments-on-an-updated-health-literacy-definition-for-healthy-people-2030

Best wishes,
